As mentioned before the University of Agriculture Science Raichur (UAS Raichur) was officially established in 2008 after being separated from UAS Dharwad and this was done under the Karnataka Act number ten of 2010 passed by the government of Karnataka.
This happened because there is a huge demand for the separate university in this region and it has existed for a long time, especially from the people of Hyderabad Karnataka region.
The reason is that this area has something unique climatic conditions and farming challenges which made it necessary for the government to dedicate and make a separate agriculture university, here are some of the important dates about the development of this university.
- In 1969, the Agricultural Engineering Institute was set up in Raichur to offer Diploma courses in agricultural engineering.
- Later in 1987, Kit was upgraded to the College of Agriculture Engineering where students could get a Btech degree, in the year 1984, the College of Agriculture was established on the Raichur campus to provide quality education in agriculture.
Lastly, one interesting fact about Raichur Is that it has a long history of agricultural research, and the first agriculture station was set up in 1932 by the Nizam government of Hyderabad.
